The Benefits of Central Air Conditioning

THE BENEFITS OF CENTRAL AIR CONDITIONING:

K
L
Indoor comfort during warm weather
Central air conditioning helps keep your home cool and reduces humidity levels.
K
L
Cleaner Air
As your central air conditioning system draws air out of various rooms in the house through return air ducts, the air is pulled through an air filter, which removes airborne particles such as dust and lint. Sophisticated filters may remove microscopic pollutants, as well. The filtered air is then routed to air supply ductwork that carries it back to rooms.
K
L
Quieter Operation
Because the compressor bearing unit is located outside the home, the indoor noise level from its operation is much lower than that of a free-standing air conditioning unit.

Understanding Central Air Conditioning &How It Works

CENTRAL AIR CONDITIONING FACTS:

  • The typical central air conditioning system is a split system, with an outdoor air conditioning, or “compressor bearing unit” and an indoor coil, which is usually installed on top of the furnace in the home.
  • Using electricity as its power source, the compressor pumps refrigerant through the system to gather heat and moisture from indoors and remove it from the home.
  • Heat and moisture are removed from the home when warm air from inside the home is blown over the cooled indoor coil. The heat in the air transfers to the coil, thereby “cooling” the air.
  • The heat that has transferred to the coil is then “pumped” to the exterior of the home, while the cooled air is pumped back inside, helping to maintain a comfortable indoor temperature.
  • Central air conditioning can also be provided through a package unit or a heat pump.
Understanding the Benefits of Chlorine-Free Refrigerants

R-410A INFORMATION:

WHAT IS R-410A?
R-410A is an environmentally friendly, next-generation refrigerant. Many refrigerants developed before R-410A contains chlorine, which is harmful to the ozone layer. R410A is chlorine-free and therefore better for the environment. In fact, the Clean Air Act requires that as of 2010, all new air conditioning and heat pump units manufactured in North America will use chlorine-free refrigerants. So by choosing an R-410A air conditioner or heat pump, you’re getting the latest in refrigerant technology . . . and helping the environment!

WHY WAS R-410A DEVELOPED?
R-410A was developed in response to an agreement between numerous countries (known as the Montreal Protocol) that stated that those countries would move toward discontinuing the use of hydrochloro-fluorocarbon (HCFC)-based refrigerants. HCFCs are widely accepted to be ozone-depleting chemical compounds, and R-410A, a non-HCFC-based refrigerant, is a much more environmentally-friendly product.

HOW CAN I BE SURE R-410A IS “THE ONE”?
The first units built using R-410A were introduced in 1995. Today, all of the major manufacturers of residential HVAC equipment are building units that use R-410A. These companies have made the investments necessary in retooling their manufacturing facilities to build new units designed to work specifically with R-410A.

R-410A: BECOMING THE STANDARD
The HVAC industry is fast moving toward R-410A being the ONLY refrigerant used in the USA for the manufacture of residential air conditioning equipment.

Morgan Miller

Jeff and his team were excellent. They arrived on time and kept communication clear and ongoing. We obtained several quotes for the work we had completed by Berks Energy, and Berks was the best in terms of value and warranty. I will use them again, with certainty, for all of our HVAC needs. They are absolutely the best, and I highly recommend them!

Cicely Holston

What a great experience we had using this company! You won’t regret hiring them to do any job in your home. They installed a new heating and air conditioning unit for us and have been out prior for some small jobs. The owner and the employees are all amiable and professional, and the work was done faster than we expected. We won’t be calling anyone else in the future.

Susan Cox

My central air fizzled out last night, and the thermostat displayed multiple -- and terrifying -- errors. Jeff could stop by in the morning, diagnose the issue (a faulty blower motor), and return only a few hours later to install and test thoroughly. Believe me when I say I received top-notch same-day service. Trust me, folks, it simply doesn't get any better than this.

Tiras Buck

I needed a new boiler to replace my nearly 25-year-old unit that had become unreliable. Berks Energy provided a very fair price, access to financing, and professional installation. They arrived exactly when they said they would, and efficiently completed the job within the promised time frame. They left the area spotless! I strongly recommend them without any hesitation.

Joe Swope
